Slowly Awakening at the DC 2013

so after the district convention was over, i asked my wife what her overall impression was.

she said, "maybe something has changed, or maybe it's your influence that i see things differently now, but a lot of those talks sounded more threatening than anything.

not loving, not really hopeful, just threatening.

Of course they have to be threatening. They demand to be treated like prophets after proving that they're frauds, and nobody is allowed to question their flip-flopping teachings even those most dubs can't keep straight what the nulite is.

WT leadership is following the example of any number of dictators that will use propaganda and violence. Anyone that isn't 100% following the party is an enemy of the state, a traitor that deserves to be killed. At WT, anyone that isn't 100% following the "faithful slave" is an apostate, a satanist that deserves to be ripped away from their friends and family.

New Trend in Dramas?

so it used to be that all dramas were ot.

period, that was it.. then they started incorporating a "modern day" application of the ot drama where actors in the present day reflected on the story.. then they started using some highly fictionalized nt characters in dramas (never jesus of course).

in the past few years we've been getting more "modern dramas", just about people in the present dealing with their "problems".

If it's paradise and they're all perfect, shouldn't they have ALL been extremely beautiful to the point that Job's daughters would have been just average?

And if they are all perfect in that future paradise, just like Adam and Eve were in the original Eden, shouldn't all the characters in that drama have been completely naked?

2013 Drama: "Show Yourself Attentive"

this is the first of three "dramas" this dc, and i have to say, it was one of the weirdest dramas ever.

i won't go through all the details.

maybe someone else wants to throw in their 2c.. it starts out with two men standing on the "beach" talking, but it took me awhile to figure out what in the hell was going on.

I would suspect that after the resurrection, grandpa confessed that he crashed the car in an effort to shut up the annoying voice of Lena.

all of my wife's family are pretty deep into the "truth", but they don't mind speaking up either.. here's some of their (not my) comments:.

the only reason i am posting this is because i know many of you are going or will be going through something similar and wonder if it is worth it.

i personally feel that it is worth it regardless of what i lose.

my wife is backing me and i have my children.

I still suggest that you at least take some effort to look them up. I didn't have much of any contact with the "worldly" relatives in my extended family until a college classmate had a name and a look that rang a bell. He's a second cousin once removed. It's not like we were instant lifelong buddies, but we keep in touch on facebook and I now know what's going on with more of the kinfolk.

And your parents should be ashamed of themselves for neglecting the "special territory" of their family. How are they supposed to "give a witness" when they completely turn their backs on their flesh-and-blood? How are they supposed to tell people at the door that JWs don't split up families, when they're strangers to their own siblings? My grandparents didn't convince many of their relatives to join the WT cult, but at least they kept in touch enough to set a good example and were highly respected by their nonJW relatives.

EVIDENCE that Christians fled Jerusalem after 66 CE ...?

what the ot says ... what sources of evidence do we have that account for the 'great escape' of the christians from jerusalem after cestius gallus siege of 66 ce ?

do we have any christian prespective about it?

since i concluded that all nt books were concluded before 66 ce (including revelation), what do we have in order to support the story that the jerusalem christians ran to pela ...etc....?

over the course of decades as a jw, an elder, a bethelite, then learning ttatt and wanting to leave, i'd collected a lot of insight into the power of "confidentiality.

" although the confidentiality in a judicial hearing is supposedly to protect the sinner, in actuality, i saw that it was about control and was protecting the power of the jc.. i didn't use any of this knowledge until i was called before the boe because the other elders figured they had grounds to remove me as an elder.

it was a work situation that only lasted a matter of hours, but it was enough that they seized the moment.

They couldn't freak out at me because the conversations was framed as what would you do when you're preaching d2d and a householder is waving this news at you ant THEY are FREAKING OUT because JWs put the protection of pedophiles before protecting children.
